About
The SciVal and Scopus User Meeting takes place virtually between 10am and 4pm on Tuesday 18th October 2022, and is free to attend for all UK and Ireland users. The programme will feature use cases from customers across Academia, Government, and Corporate institutions, as well as future Scopus and SciVal product releases and enhancements. Hosted by Elsevier’s UK and Ireland Research Intelligence team, there will be a focus on topics which are key to the region. Following registration, delegates will receive a unique log in detail each, that allows access to all sessions which will run consecutively.

John Hynes
Research Services Co-ordinator: University of Manchester Library
John works as part of the Research Services team at the University of Manchester Library, with a focus on Research Metrics. He joined the team in 2021 and has completed both the SciVal and Scopus certification programmes. John’s remit has been to look at different ways the team can help researchers to understand impact in various contexts, and to support responsible, data-driven decision-making. He has recently been involved with two large university-wide strategic projects focused on the University of Manchester’s Sustainable Development Goals. Before joining the team John worked as a Teaching and Learning Librarian at Manchester and is interested in finding practical ways to promote the responsible metrics movement, and the Library’s potential to help foster better research collaboration both within the University and beyond.

Tania Marsh
Scholarly Communications Librarian, Technological University of the Shannon (TUS)
Tania Marsh is the Scholarly Communications Librarian in TUS Library with over twenty years’ experience in a range of library roles. Since this role of Scholarly Communications Librarian was established in 2019, Tania has lead library engagement with research and researchers, developed training, research guides and provided individual, research group and faculty supports in academic publishing, open access, bibliometrics, alternative metrics, research impact and scholarly identity. This role is the direct library link to the Research Office and research activities across TUS and a key contributor to TUS research supports and culture. Tania is an Open Science Ambassador for the RUN-EU+ Project, a member of the Library Association of Ireland Open Scholarship Group and an Altmetrics Ambassador.

Bill Worthington
Research and Scholarly Communications Manager, Library and Computing Services, University of Hertfordshire
Bill has been Research and Scholarly Communications (RSC) Team Manager, Library and Computing Services, University of Hertfordshire, since forming the team in 2016.

The RSC team manages the University’s research systems; curates research information; advocates good practice including Open Access; and delivers practical interventions for researchers in order to get the most from their published work. Bill leads the RSC team and works with other providers in the university to deliver a co-ordinated service catalogue of research support. Bill had the responsibility for assuring data quality and compliance for research outputs for both REF2014 and REF2021.

Bill was formerly Group Leader in the Enterprise Application Consultants team, and has a wide experience of information systems, web technologies, coding, and data processing. He is only lately, almost a librarian.

Bill uses Scopus and SciVal to deliver insight and advocacy with regard to publication practice, mostly at research group level.
