In her current role, Rachel oversees the public services department at the Barco Law Library supporting the information needs of students, faculty, staff, and public patrons through management of the circulation desk, library user assistance, and reference services. She has proactively spearheaded our Archives and Special Collections, overseeing the acquisition, preservation, storage, exhibition, and access of both physical and born-digital materials. This hands-on experience has given me a deep understanding of our collections and the tools and best practices necessary for preservation work. Additionally, she has collaborated with donors for the expansion of our collection, developed a collection policy to outline acquisition priorities and research guidelines, and published digital exhibits as another means to share and showcase work. Additionally, she has led orientation sessions for library services, created research guides and tutorials for resource discovery, and collaborated with librarians, faculty, and students on research projects and reference inquiries. With five years of experience in archives and the information profession, she has cultivated expertise in an array of areas including cataloging, database utilization, digitization techniques, metadata management, research methodologies, and public service delivery.

Rachel obtained her Master of Library and Information Science degree at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Computing and Information in April of 2024.
