Christopher Southan Ph.D. FBPharmacolS, FRSC has an achievement record in bioinformatics, cheminformatics, proteomics, genomics, drug discovery and protein chemistry. This gives him an ability to make joins between these domains at both the technical and strategic levels. In 2020 he joined Medicines Discovery Catapult Data Science (remotely from Sweden) as a Competitive Intelligence Analyst where he has worked on a variety of collaborative projects supporting UK SMEs. Prior to this he founded TW2Informatics Consulting in Göteborg (2018–20) after a position as Senior Cheminformatician for the Guide to Pharmacology Database (2012–18). This was preceded by contract work at AstraZeneca R&D Mölndal in the Knowledge Engineering Program (2009–12) and Database survey Coordinator for the ELIXIR project at the European Bioinformatics Institute (2008–9). He has 118 PubMed entries with a focus on biocuration and database content analysis. He holds Honorary faculty positions at the University of Edinburgh and the University of New Mexico and is on several Advisory Boards including BindingDB and Missense3D.
