Jan Willem van Groenigen is full professor in Soil Biogeochemistry, and head of the Soil Biology Group, at Wageningen University in The Netherlands. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of soil ecology, nutrient cycling and soil science in general, and has been listed as “Highly Cited Scientist” by Clarivate Web of Science since 2018. He is a dedicated teacher, but besides his research and teaching he is also passionate about scientific publishing, and publishing integrity. He has been Editor in Chief of the respected soil science journal Geoderma for over 10 years, and since January 2025 he has joined the Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board as Subject Chair in the field of Agriculture and Biological Sciences. He was awarded the Philippe Duchaufour Medal (one of the most prestigious honors in soil science) by the European Geophysical Union in 2024, partially because of his efforts to uphold standard in scientific publishing and fight scientific misconduct.
