is a senior R&D professional with almost 25 years of experience in industrial research and development, and has held various roles at Dow Chemical in the Netherlands since 2009. He received his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry & Catalysis from Utrecht University in 1999. Matthijs is passionate about sustainable technology development, and is focused on addressing issues that inhibit progress in the development of the circular economy and carbon emissions abatement. He has worked on a wide range of topics including heterogenous catalysis, high-throughput experimentation, sustainable process development, CCS/CCU, and bio-based chemicals; and been active in early stage research, scale-up, commercial implementation, and operations support. In addition to his role at Dow, Matthijs is an active contributor to various industrial and academic chemistry and catalysis program councils and advisory committees in the Netherlands, and Europe.
